I was sent an email pointing to the HR-20 Heart rate monitor from catEye. It has
everything I need to know whilst cycling but does not allow me to download to
my pc. So I looked around and found the Garmin Forerunner 50, but I am not sure
it will do the same. Here is what the HR-20 HR monitor does:
* Current Heart Rate
* Average Heart Rate
* Maximum Heart Rate
* Percent of Maximum Heart Rate
* Three customizable exercise profiles
* 1 programmable Heart Rate Zone for each exercise
* Time in target zone
* Time above target zone
* Time below targer zone
* Target zone limits
* Icon Alarm for target zone
* Audio Alarm for target zone
* Warm-up Timer
* Cool-down Timer
* Lap function
* Up to 44 laps
* Lap Average Heart Rate
* Lap Data Review
* Features
* Exercise Data Summary
* Total Exercise Time
* Total Calories Burned
* Percent of calories burned as fat
* Stopwatch
* 12 or 24 hour clock
* Date and weekday
* Backlight
* Low battery indicator
* Key Lock
* Water resistant to 30 meters
Could someone comment on the practical usefullness of those functions and
whether the Garmin FR 50 offers the same whilst riding bike reports. I have
realised that I am not exercising myself enough when cycling and so have been
looking for on cycle reports as well as downloading abilities. I am not actually
sports training so the auto lap would not help. I use my bike for getting
arround instead of a car. Perhaps there is something more suitable than both
devices at around the same price. Please let me know.
