Hi John
Good question.
I have looked at this, and I don't think you can PAUSE the unit.
I have looked through the manual and had a quick play
Unfortunately, pressing the START/STOP button seems to have the same effect as the LAP button, in so far as it lays down another lap...
Unless someone tells us otherwise, I think you're just going to have to live with the short TRAFFIC light stops.
Regards,
Tristan

Subject: [garminforerunner50] Stopping & starting the watch during a runI got a FR50 from Santa so I am still working out a few of the finer
details. During my run, I have to wait for some red lights and I
would normally stop my watch whilst I am waiting and then start it
again when the light changes. However I have noticed that this means
that I get extra laps recorded on my run. I have pre-programmed my
laps as 1 mile. For example today's run was 8 miles, however it
recorded 12 laps, and some of them are for only like a minute or two
and they were around the time of when I had to wait at lights. Is
there any way not to get the extra laps - can I pause the watch during
a run?? Thanks
