Re: New poll for gevincountdown

It tells me not to reply to the poll message. I wonder what bad
things might happen now.

But it depends on what you mean by "dead". Everyone can see for
themselves how "busy" this forum is, and it's up to them whether
their definitions enable them to call it dead.

But I think it's a shame the way the forum has gone. I don't have as
much time as I used to, and given the lack of other posters, when I
do find something to say, I often just don't bother.

Obviously there's always the other forum, but that's just a victory
for non-freedom of speech.

I've probably said it before and I'll say it again, at the risk of
sounding bitter and twisted. There was nothing wrong with this forum.
A few over-sensitive/non-freedom-of-speech people didn't like some of
my posts, posted some far worse posts in reply, and set up a new
forum.

Whether this was to eliminate my sort of posts or just because they
didn't want the person doing those sorts of posts in charge of the
forum, I'm not entirely sure. Who is running the forum is not really
that important as long as they are fair and I think I was that. I
could have just deleted the inept criticisms and calls to join the
other forum, but unlike that one I'm not against freedom of speech.

If it was that they simply wanted to get rid of those sorts of posts,
then really it is ridiculous, because to dictate the types of posts
that are allowed so tightly is a complete joke.

And the introductory message to the other group - that it is for
contestants of Countdown, but if you're really good we might let you
on without being a contestant. More rubbish if you ask me. And you
have to say who you are, where you come from and how long you've been
watching Countdown. Why? You can just make it up anyway, and some
people want to remain anonymous, and I don't see why that should be a
problem. But how long you have been watching Countodwn - yes, I can
really see why that is an important security question.

That group may have all the posters now, but this group in its prime
was infinitely better than that group will ever be.
