Using the game reviews posted on the other forum and Soo Reams's
site, I've made a list of the 30 maximum scores from 29th April to
16th June, using the conventional system and giving 9 points for 9-
letter words. I might do more of an analysis on them later, but some
things are obvious from them. The variation ids much lower when 9
points are given for 9 letter words, which means you are less at the
mercy of what the rounds throw at you.

Every set of 8 consecutive games has at least one game in it where
the maximum is higher than 122 while 9 points are given for 9 letter
words, where I believe 122 is the record under this system. This is
not the case for the record under the conventional system.

Record scores are just as much abuot a lucky set of letters as they
are skill. Giving 9 points for 9 letter words obviously wouldn't cut
out luck completely, but almost all players would have the
opportunity to score a record total. It's more down to skill.
