18:00 ish Tuesday evening: I tried to post a message
on the c4countdown forum ... and nothing happened.

23:25 ish Tuesday evening: I tried to post my message
on the c4countdown forum for a 2nd time. As shown
in the text below the next paragraph.

23:26 ish Tuesday evening: It turns out that my 1st
message actually was in fact allowed to appear ...
but only after a delay of 4 hours. And when it did
finally appear on c4countdown ... approximately 30
lines of my message was missing - nearly half of
what I had just written !!!

05:40 ish Wednesday morning: I will try to post my
message on GEVINCOUNTDOWN too. Safe in the knowledge
that on Gevincountdown, me & my message *won't* be
treated in a disrespectful way involving censorship,
or misuse of position as moderator, etc..

Okay, here goes nothing ....

Zef replies:-

Despite the fact that there was recently a poll for
"Edmonds vs Lynam", there are several IMO good reasons
for holding this poll as well.

1) The previous "Edmonds vs Lynam" poll did NOT
offer the chance to vote for the 3rd of the
3 people at the recent audition, Richard Digance.
This poll does.

2) The previous "Edmonds vs Lynam" poll did NOT
offer the opportunity to vote for Tom O'Connor,
several people's absolute 1st choice to be
offered/auditioned for the host's job - who
was therefore IMO a surprise omission from the
group of people who were auditioned recently.
This poll offers that opportunity to us all.

3) The previous "Edmonds vs Lynam" poll did NOT
offer the chance for people to say who their 2nd
choice from these 4 leading candidates would be.
This poll allows people the chance to say that.

4) Barring switched votes, my vote or Gary's vote,
I think it is worth noting that 15 of the 1st 16
votes cast so far have been for the original
options that I had included in this poll.

By the act of casting a vote for those original
options, each of those 15 people has in effect
expressed a wish that we *should* all be allowed
the opportunity to vote in this particular poll.
Wishes that surely deserve NOT to be ignored.

5) By setting up this particular poll Gary, I gave
every member of this forum the opportunity to
vote upon this precise matter of choosing from
R. Digance vs N. Edmonds vs D. Lynam vs T. O'Connor.

Far from that being of absolutely no interest to
anyone else, at least 15 other people have already
shown an interest in taking that opportunity -
regardless of any late switches of vote which may
yet take place. And there may yet be several more
Countdown fans who will also take advantage of the
chance to vote for one of the original options
before this poll closes.

So tell us Gary, would you prefer instead to
deny them that opportunity???

----------

Finally Gary, if you still want to quibble about
there being any unnecessary or inappropriate polls
on c4countdown, then I'd respectfully suggest that
you look at elsewhere, at polls other than this one.

And that either

(a) When you vent your spleen against those other
polls which *don't* have the authorname "Zef"
attached, you should show the same level of keenness
to "accentuate the negative and ignore the positive"
that you've shown so far when trying to criticise
and/or undermine *this* poll; or else

(b) You raise from it's current subzero level the
extent to which you have so far been prepared to
recognise what I have actually done by setting up
this poll. Namely, that I have made a *positively*
motivated attempt to 'raise the bar' regarding the
quality of poll which would be made available to
the c4countdown forum's members during the period
shortly before the likely appointment of a new host.

Otherwise Gary, you and the others who have voted
for the "Let's not have a poll" option will be
doing more to undermine

(i) the intentions of people to continue to make
*positive* contributions to this forum; and

(ii) the credibility of this forum

... than anything that the likes of Gevin, "Sjewart
Holden" and others would ever dare to dream of.

If my message, as shown above, is not allowed to
appear on c4countdown forum for a SECOND time???
With nothing added - and with nothing taken away?

Then I will let you draw your own conclusions
about whether there is CENSORSHIP (rather than
free speech) currently being practised at that forum.
