Hi All,

Bad news, my Gilera Runner has been laid to rest after some thieving
gits in Bradford managed to write it off despite only getting 10
metres without the engine even being started. Anyhow I am now on the
road to passing my test so I can get a Yamaha Thundercat.

I guess I should now leave the club no longer being a Runner owner.

Anyway so long folkes!

Adam.

I just saw some cool pictures of some Gileras. Did any of the old 180
two stroke Runners have dual shocks? Look at this...

I'm confused? How can I get dual shocks!

Folks,

Wonder if you can help. I have a starting problem on my 2002 Runner
125 VX.

I have checked the following :
Starter Relay - replaced.
Fuses in battery area - OK
Fuses under front panel - OK.
Battery - charged & 12V at rest.

Attempt to start in the normal manner :
Solenoid clicks - no starter turning.

Is it the battery ? I would like to check anything else before I
stump up £ 35 GBP for a new battery.

Hoe someone can help.

best regards

Mark

I would check the wiring loom where is passes close to the steering
column. It has probably been rubbing and worn the insulation causing
a short circuit. As you turn the handlebars, it rubs against the
column and there goes your fuse again.

I had a similar problem with a Runner 125. Had to put some more
insulation round the wiring loom and it has been fine since. Either
way, fusses blowing in quick succession like that has to be a short
circuit somewhere and around the steering column is the most likely
place to find it.

have a Gilera Runner FXR180 and yesterday I noticed that I had no
power on the main dash and I couldn't start the bike from the electric
starter, I found that I had the 7.5Amp fuse blown. I replaced the fuse
and I worked fine for around 10min and after the fuse was blown again.
The fuse is the 3rd one and on the electric circuit it's marked with
WhiteRed wire. Tomorrow I will investigate to see what the fault might
be.

Do you have any suggestions where the fault might be?

A few months ago I asked via this forum for help with my research,
taking place at the Transport Research Institute, part of Napier
University in Edinburgh. I promised when I asked for help to let you
know how it was going, and in keeping with that I have put a web page
up with a brief summary of my results so far. I am presenting a paper
on this to the DfT in April, after which I will put some more
information on the web.

Thanks for the help

B9ES ?

Would B8ES be good as well in that case ?

I has Champion N2C (=B9ES) and it didn't work well... the engine was
always too cold and after 1500km it made very hard to start and it
came that the plug has carbon dirt on it...

Now when I put the B8ES it improved by VERY much, it's much faster
and gets warm in a short time.

Is that a good choice ?
