Hiya,
Welcome to Speak ! I've been involved with Speak for a fairly longish time aswell. I've been going to church in Cumbernauld for a number of years now and am involved in our community project there.
All,
I'm thinking it would be good to put some general points from our last Speak meeting here.
We discussed :-
1) The possibility of making sure there will be some Speak material & contact details at each of the freshers fairs this Autumn. Although it would be too late to obtain a desk specifically for Speak we could probably leave some material on the C.U desks.
2) We touched on the possibilty of linking in with some of the work that Tearfund or Christian Aid are doing in Glasgow since they ( especially Tearfund) seem to be the christain orgainisation most associated with Global Justice Issues in Glasgow.
3) Motivation & drive issues. A few of us were suffering from the " Post Make Poverty History March/G8" syndrome whose main symptomn is " not knowing what to do next " in the campaign.
The next stage of the campaign are the UN meetings this week and the WTO round talks in December.
4) We talked and prayed about the importance of praying for our MPs/MSPs/Councillors & Government.
5) Next meeting we will hopefully have a bibe study/discussion.
cheers
David

Hello Lyndsey (and noble_aryan if you get this email -
although it looks as if your email is bouncing so you
probably won't). I had looked up the David Duke
website as well and was going to reply...oh well.
I've been involved with Speak for about 1 1/2 years,
am also in the Church of Scotland and like cycling.
Thanks for joining the group!
