Hello Lovely Glasgow group!
I hope you're all well! Sorry I haven't been in touch for ages - i've been away all summer representing SPEAK at various summer festivals.
I wanted to let you know that we have a new regional support worker joining the team here in Manchester. Her name is Ele and she will support SPEAK groups in the North East of England and Scotland - so she will be your regional support worker!
I'm sad that I won't be your regional support worker anymore, because I never got chance to visit your group, other than at the Scotish Forum, which is pretty rubbish considering I was your Regional Support Worker! The problem was that I was supposed to be supporting groups in Wales, Scotland and the whole of the north - quite a task - and through spreading myself too thinly, this meant I wasn't able to visit all the groups or support people through phone calls as well as I would have liked. But the good news is, with Ele joining the team, we will be sharing this out (Ele supporting groups in Scotland and the North East, Me supporting groups in Wales and the North West) and therefore, we'll both be able to do a better job!
Ele is still support raising for her role at the moment. She'll probably contact you all in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, I wanted to check a few things:
- The Scottish Forum is happening on Saturday 15th October @ Stirling Baptist Church. More details to follow! I hope you can come!
- I am passing on contact details to Ele, for your group. I'll give her this email, but which is the best address to send things to (through the post)? Jo, do you still receive a bunch of pray and post for the group? Is there another address that things should be sent to? Maybe Rae's flat if thats where you all normally meet? Also, is there somebody who wanted to be a telephone contact for Ele?
- Would anybody be interested in supporting Ele (financially)? I understand that some of you may already support SPEAK (thank you!), but if anyone feels they might be able to support Ele by giving a few £'s a month, that would be great. She doesn't know i'm sending this email, but I just really want to help her with her support raising, because I know how hard it can be! If you're interested, let me know your address and i'll send you a support card. Thank you!
