Following on from the discussion we had at yesterday's meeting to function
more as a network. Here's an email from Jubilee Scotland regarding
Saturday's protest in Edinburgh.
Brian
Jubilee Scotland is pleased to support the International Day of Climate
Protest to be held on Saturday 3 December 2005.
The Edinburgh march starts at 11.30am in West Market Street (near Waverly
Station) to rally outside the Scottish Parliament at 12.30pm.
The following paragraph is from Jubilee Scotland:
"Unwise development projects, funded by massive and ill-considered loans
from the G8 and the World Bank, have been a major factor in environmental
damage and climate change. The debts into which the poorest countries have
been plunged cause further environmental degradation, as natural resources
are plundered for the hard currency needed to meet debt repayments. Jubilee
Scotland sees a solution to the global debt crisis as crucial to tackling
the root causes of climate change, and we are pleased to support this day of
international action on Climate Change."

"When reflecting on global problems that prov! ide of no easy solution, the
reasonable person might despair. But hope is unreasonable; and love is
greater even than this."
