Hi Esther, great to hear from you!
There was an update about Pastor Daly in Friday's
Herald saying that the Immigration Judge in Glasgow
granted bail despite the Home Office opposing this.
http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/52277.html
The family should be back in Glasgow by now.
The rally next Saturday was about asylum in general
and should still be going ahead.
Yep, news from Montreal sounds positive - always good
to hear about campaigning victories.

Hi everyone,
I have to start with a big apology to everyone for
being totally
rubbish at communicating over the past few months.
Not quite sure how it has got to December so quickly
as it doesn't
seem that long ago i saw all you guys, but thinking
back that must
have been the end of August meeting... hmmm not good.
Anyway just to up date you a bit on me so you're not
too confused - I
moved flats at the end of September and now live at:
1/2 1415
Dumbarton Road, Whiteinch Glasgow G14 9XS. Tel. no
0141 9596288.
Mobile no. is still 07985902003.
Apologies once again if anyone was trying to get hold
of me at the
old no.. (?Rae - sorry)
Part of the problem was that i was without access to
email for a
while. However now have broadband in the new flat so i
have no
excuses!
I think from the pre-amble above you can probably
gather that moving
to more of a network based group without the monthly
meetings is
something that i am fine with! i am sorry i have not
been able to
contribute as much time as i would like to the group.
However i
really appreciate being in contact with all you guys,
and would be
keen to continue to hear via the email system of any
events such as
the protest next Saturday for instance. I hope there
will also be
times when we meet up sporadically or organise take
part in specific
actions as a group.
I think last time we met i told you a little about the
Invest
training course i was starting with Whiteinch church
of Scotland (see
http://www.whiteinchcofs.co.uk/ for more info). So
that's taking up a
fair bit of my time as well as trying to juggle the
A&E shifts. The
church does have a monthly campaign group though that
i've been able
to join - i guess fulfilling the role that Speak did a
bit before.
However i still recognise an important role for Speak
to exist in
some form in Glasgow - especially as many churches
don't have similar
campaign groups. However i also think there are
specific values that
Speak as a network holds that makes it unique in
itself. I think it
is good to have some collective identity as a Glasgow
group that
enables us to link in with other speak groups in
Scotland and the UK.
I was working on the weekend of the Scottish forum,
but depending on
rota would like to try to get to London for Soundcheck
or maybe just
the day of action. Any one else have any thoughts on
this?
With regards to the Daly family - anyone have any
update since 7th
Dec? i had a look at the link Rae gave which seemed to
think they
might be released again later that week... Anyway i
plan to go along
to Brand Street next Saturday for the protest so will
maybe see some
of you there? I presume it will go ahead even if they
have been
released???
Interesting developments at Montreal hey???
Probably have lots more i should say but email already
a bit long!
God bless,
Esther
