At 11:30am people will be meeting up at the
Immigration Office at 200 Brand St (near Cessnock
underground). Then at 12:30 they will march into the
city centre for a rally at the Trades Hall in
Glassford St around 2pm, where there will be some
refreshments.
This event is calling for an end to dawn raids (or
early morning visits) and detentions and asking for
asylum seekers to be able to work.
There have been some positive stories over the last
week or so;
some deportations stopped at the last minute,
an eviction stopped,
3 protestors cleared after being arrested at early
morning demo/blockade.

I know Speak doesn't campaign directly on asylum, but
it seems that a lack of global justice plus conflicts
fuelled by the arms trade are part of the reason why
many feel the need to seek asylum here. 3 of us from
the Glasgow Speak group were at the last main rally at
Brand St.
Hope to meet up with you soon.
