RE: [glentress-trailfairies] Re: Trailbuilding Sess this Sat, 19 July

Hi Mark,

I'm keeping it shut for around a week so the material we put down can get a chance to dry out.  With all the rain we've had, the hardcore was soaked and with the jump being a slight hip, in it's current state the surface would likely get cut up, especially the upramp.  Once a little drier, it'll harden up and be a lot more resistant.  Also, I may add some more material to the take off too before opening it up.  The jump's clearable, but needs a fair bit of speed - works pretty well with no surprises and doesn't send you towards the trees!

Am keeping a close eye on the freeride.  Some resurfacing/rebuild work is scheduled for the autumn - i'll leave any work until any real long dry spells of weather has passed.  Otherwise, it'll be tricky for any resurfaced sections to bed in well.  Those trails take a real hammering, so conditions need to be spot on to do repair work.

Had a volunteer group out on Tuesday - we were working on a new skinny (ish) line through the trees on the Essentials Freeride, it's coming along nicely.  Am pretty busy with other projects but i'll hopefully have a short new section opened up in a couple of weeks time.  Will also get a look at plans again for the wallride section and get this work scheduled in.

Next session on Sat 2 Aug, the 'fairies will be working on a new natural line for the xc race course.  Progress will be much swifter than Mushroom Pie!

cheers,

Andy
