SXC Race at Glentress, 20/21 Sep, marshalls needed!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #113 of 438 |

Hi Folks,

This year Glentress is holding the final round of the SXC Series again.  In addition the race has UCI C2 status which brings with extra requirements..  I'm emailing to see whether any of you would be free and able to marshal at the race?  I'm needing marshals for Sunday 20th Sep from 0830 until 1700 and also on Saturday 19th between 1300 and 1600 (for official practise).  I realise this is a big ask, so even if you could help with one of these sessions that would be very much appreciated.  Both would be brilliant!

Marshaling is pretty straight forward.  You'll be located normally at a junction on the race course to assist racers, ensuring they go in the right direction (!), have a radio to call base and the first aid crew if needed and also help non racers not to stray onto the course during racing/give them advice on what trails are closed/open etc..  Oh and you get to wear a high vis jacket and blow a whistle!

In return for volunteering your time, we'll provide lunches, £20 to cover expenses and a t-shirt for both days (or £10 and a t-shirt for the Saturday).  Hope this seems reasonable?

Sorry for the short notice with this.  I hope you might be able to help.  If you can, could you drop me an email with which days you can make, t-shirt size and any special dietary requirements.

Next 'fairy session is this Saturday 13th Sep.  We'll putting the final touches to 'Zoom or Bust'.  Meeting at 9am at the Ranger's Office.

Cheers,

Andy
