Subject: [glentress-trailfairies] 12/1/08 Session Report
Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2008 13:32:55 -0000 (UTC)

So the first session of the new year was pretty nippy but a hardy few braved
the conditions to continue making singletrack history. Or as close to it as
we can manage.

We started off by admiring Andy's handywork at the head of "Mushroom Pie".
As well as the customary man-at-work sign and the entrance all taped off
there is now a sign proclaiming the trail fairies involvement in the
project.

As we headed down to the coal-face, as it where, we discovered just how
poorly this section of the forest drains. There was standing water
everywhere in our carefully cut tray. Where it was pooling we cut some
drainage channels to give it an escape route but it wasn't long before we
were cutting virgin trail once more.

We were working on the second stream crossing which will consist of a
gap-jump for people who can use the word "stoked" without irony and a
bridge for the rest of us. At the moment we're still cutting the tray, no
woodwork yet. Slow but steady progress was made.

Feel free to add anything you think I've forgotten to this thread.

I think that providing status reports like these will help enthuse lurking
members to turn out and inform regulars who missed a session what happened.
Am I right in that belief? Is this useful or should I just shut up. Would
other people like to do the write ups instead?

... Andy brought Christmas cake! :-) Other than that, well we seem to be gradually narrowing the trail as it winds its way through the trees - similar I guess...

Hello. Yep, I like the write ups, great to let other 'fairies know how the trail is going and they make me laugh - keep them coming if you don't mind doing...
