RE: [glentress-trailfairies] 12/1/08 Session Report

Hello.

Yep, I like the write ups, great to let other 'fairies know how the trail is going and they make me laugh - keep them coming if you don't mind doing them!

I thought it was a v.good first session,  some great team digging going on and quality tray being cut -  a little narrower, but this is no bad thing at all.  We're not very far off the end of the trail, maybe 40m - a couple of sessions will see this dug.  A special mention must go to Alaistair who, having gone to bed at 4am, managed to make it to the session for just after 9am!  Awesome.

Once we come to surface in a few sessions time and also dig the drainage dishes, this will sort much of the puddling.  A few seeps across the wettest section of the hill may need a little more work - topside drain and pipe to catch the water or even short bridges, but we can soon sort this.

I'm excited about this section, especially the prospect of the gap jump and skinny options!  and the further we get away from the middle wetter section the better the soils are getting!  (oh dear...).

I also learnt some techy computer lingo (though seem to have forgotton it all now, something about motherboards and processors) and realised it's not just me who 'sings' the "eye of the tiger" theme whilst digging!

Looking forward to the next session.  Got some muffin mix for Christmas (as you do), so will attempt to dechipher to Norweigen instructions and bring the results along to the session.

cheers,
Andy

Andy brought Christmas cake! :-)

Other than that, well we seem to be gradually narrowing the trail as
it winds its way through the trees - similar I guess to what happened
with the Pie Run. We can see where the trail will leave the trees
from where we were working - progress is being made!

I like to know what went on when I miss a session. I cannot speak for
others though as to whether this list should be a discussion list or
for announcements only.

So the first session of the new year was pretty nippy but a hardy few braved the conditions to continue making singletrack history. Or as close to it as we can...
