As foretold by prophesy we started surfacing Mushroom Pie. We got 10-20m
done from the first stream crossing onwards. However it was at that point
we hit a snag. A squelchy, sucking-on-your-boots, snag. Parts of the trail
are *very* wet. I keep expecting to find that the section before the second
stream crossing has been strewn with barbed wire and tank traps at the
beginning of each session. It may be necessary to use board walk there.
Luckily "Helter-skelter" is nice and dry but that still leaves us with a lot
of drainage work to do. A number of options were discussed but it currently
looks like we'll be digging a trench along the up-hill side of the trail.
In this channel will be built a culvert to keep the water away from the
trail.
So plenty of work still to be done.
Andy was telling us that one of the companies involved in Sundays demo day
turned up a day early to test the trail. Apparently they loved Pie Run. So
there you have it, straight from the Iron Horses mouth.
While working on finishing off the exit Chris noted that the number of
riders attacking Magic Mushroom from above and below suggested that maybe
the official red route was now down Pie Run with an optional section down
The Matrix and Lombard Street.
