RE: [glentress-trailfairies] Building on Saturday?

Hello,

Thanks Chris - yep there is a Trailfairies session this Saturday, 2 July, meeting at 9am at the Rangers Office at GT.   Sorry for the lack of info from me.

Aiming to work on completing the gap jump on Mushroom Pie.  I've given the gap jump much thought and after recieving the latest advice from FC's H&S bods,  we are going to have to fill the gap and instead make it Glentress's first tabletop with surfaced up and down ramps and timber middle section or 'bridge jump'.  That's my bestest positive spin I can put on it...

There is a general move to try keep more extreme features within specialist freeride areas/parks which makes sense I guess, and given the attention Glentress recieves with regard to accidents, I understand why having a gap jump on a waymarked xc trail may not be the best thing, even if it was to be a relatively small one.

Let me know what you think.  If nowone turns up to the session out of disguist i'll understand!!!

On a more positive note, i've had the provisional nod for us to construct a new 'natural' descent for the xc race course at Glentress.  This i'm very excited about as the ground it'll run through has very good gradients, good mineral soil, nice thinned trees and potential for a cracking trail.  So, if everyone is up for it, we could start work on this section at the next session on 19 July?

I've pencilled in dates upto Christmas and kept it simple - every fortnight from this Saturday, 2nd.

Looking forward to 10 at Kirroughtree next weekend.  i'm doing it in a pairs team.  Sounds like they've been working on some new natural sections that'll be used in the race course - which is getting me all excited..   Hopefully see some 'fairies there again??

cheers,

Andy

If I recall correctly, Andy is back from his holidays now and there's a trail fairies session this Saturday. I thought I'd confirm this as I haven't received a calendar reminder from the group.
