Malcolm and Bruce,

I have a peference to do the January first aid set up by Andy with the bike patrol. If you need Malcolm to fill the space, I'll do the course. If not, I am happy to swap out and let him take my place. Let me know how it goes.

Malcolm,

As things stand, I think it is full, but there MAY be a place.

I have spoken to Rod, and he is prepared to take 11 if need be, so I have a little flexibility.

I will see the person from whom I am still to receive payment on Wednesday - there may be an issue with childcare, so do feel free to give me a ring on 077899 21549  so should be able to give you a better idea.

Also, email me at work  -   bruce.fraser@...   and I will add you to the list and send you all the joining details.

The Bike Patrol took three places - and I have three names from them - one of which is Alister.  I am not sure if he was covering a Bike Patrol cancellation.   If all the Bike Patrol places are taken, the cost will be £70  (Snowsport Scotland charge £90 or more).

The course starts at 9am prompt at the Ski Centre in the small conference room next to the old snowboard hire.

You will need good outdoor kit, much of the course will be outside regardless of the weather!

If you can get along, I will see you at the start of the first session.

Hi Folks,

Here's a flyer from Rod who's involved with the Tweed Valley Pump and Jump bike track at Cardrona bid, in the Peoples Millions.  If you could print a copy and put it up that would be great as would forwarding it on to others who'd be interested in supporting the project.

Please try and vote if you can on the 24th Nov, the pump and jump bike track would be a great addition for the Tweed Valley, getting kids (and adults!) out on bikes and having fun.

cheers,

andy

p.s. sorry if you've already recieved this from another source!

Hi Andy,

We are now less than a week away from voting day for the Tweed Valley Pump n’Jump track at Cardrona.

The attached A5 flyer further promotes how supporters can register now and get easy access to the number which they will need to ring (up to 10 times max from any landline) on 24th November between 9am and 12pm.

If you could please distribute to your key contacts as before, I would be very grateful. Viral marketing will be the key here.

Best wishes and kind regards,

Rod

Hi Mark,

I believe plans detailing modifications required to the wallride have been made and a planning document is being prepared which will then have to be approved before any work can commence.   I don't have any more details unfortunately as i'm not personally involved in this.

So, it will be reopened but before then it needs planning doc approval, then construction of modifications then sign off.  Don't have a reopening date yet..

cheers,

Hi Andy,

I am sure you will be pleased to hear that the Cardrona Pump n’Jump Project which I have discussed with you earlier this year has now made it to the final stages of the Peoples Millions, Big Lottery funding.

ITV1 Border will produce a short 2 minute film to be shown on the Evening News programme on Tues 24th November.

We will be going head to head against the Border Curling Development Club in a vote off. The project with the highest number of telephone votes will get the funding it is looking for.

Voting can take place any time during the day from 9am until 12 midnight. The number to ring to vote will only be released on the day. Each supporter can vote 10 times at a cost of 10p per call so for £1, you can help us get the most votes, secure the funding to enable us to build the track Jan/Feb 2010.

The track will be open for everyone to benefit so we need your support.

There are a number of ways in which supporters can keep in touch with developments in the build up to the 24th.

They can go to the Peoples Millions website and view the project at http://www.peoplesmillions.org.uk/regions/border/projects/cardrona-pump-n-jump-track

They can go to our page on Facebook and become a fan.  That way, we can easily broadcast the number to vote on 24th Nov when it becomes available.

http://www.facebook.com/cardrona%20pump%20n'jump#/pages/Cardrona-Mains-United-Kingdom/Cardrona-Pump-nJump-Track/139517814173?ref=ts

The project can also be followed daily on Twitter at www.twitter.com/cardronapandj

Can you please forward this on to as many contacts as you can. I would like to develop a viral campaign over the coming weeks so that we have a very large network on supporters on board by 24th when we all need to vote.

If you have any questions or indeed promotional ideas, I would be delighted to discuss them.

Best regards,

Rod

I am sure you will be pleased to hear that the Cardrona Pump nÂ’Jump Project which I have discussed with you earlier this year has now made it to the final stages of the Peoples Millions, Big Lottery funding.

Rod

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everybody who helped out on Saturday.  The race was a great success, the sun was shining, not to many spills, Alister doing a fine job with the start gate and some great marshalling.

Thanks again :):)

Hi,
Rich, I plan to come along on the 12th December.

However, I will pass on this weeks session as I have a lot of catching up to do,
and cannot make the 14th (away in South Wales with a school group skiing).

Will see you on the 28th - when I will be late, I have to get a BASP Course up
and running before heading back down to Glentress. Great to see three Bike
Patrollers booked on to it (thanks Alister).

Andy, I have chased up the banner for the start of Zoom or Bust that we spoke
about before the summer - I hope it will be finished in the next three weeks.
Tavy works in that class, so will get him to keep things on course.

Hope the race goes well this weekend.

Bruce

To All,

I'm going and without bikes can carry 6 other people. I'm willing to pick up around Edinburgh and drop back. The sooner I know how many, the sooner I can put the extra seats back in.

See you there,

Hi Andy/Rich

Just to let you know that Peter and I will come along to Innerleithen this Saturday, for marshalling duties (Promise we won't send em all the wrong way), so we'll see you there.

We won't be able to make the trailfairies session on the 14th though, as Andrew (little one) has been chosen to be the mascot for the Scotland team against Fiji at Murrayfield that day, so I guess we had better go up and support him. Should be a good one - as long as he remembers the words to flower of Scotland.

See you Saturday

Hello,

This Saturday there won't be a Trailfairy session digging trails at Glentress.  Instead the plan is to do something a wee bit different and help out with the U16's mini dh race that's on at Innerleithen - mainly marshaling duties.

If you fancy making it along, we'll be meeting at 10am (lie in!) at the Innerleithen car park.  Racing will run till around 4pm.  If you could post up here or let Rich Latimer know if you can make it along that would be great.  Rich's email is:  info@glentrailhouse.com

Not sure whether lunch is included, so best maybe to bring something along.

The event will really help up and coming young riders experience DH racing, which is a very positive thing - a good amount of trail kharma points will be on offer for helping out with this endeavour!

At the next Trailfairy session on Sat 14th Nov we'll be back doing trailwork at Glentress on Zoom or Bust.  Think between this session and the following one 2 weeks later on Sat 28th Nov, we can get this section of trail finished!

Cheers,

Andy

Hi all,

I'll be helping out at the Downhill on Saturday so won't make the Trailbuild. I can give a lift to anyone from Edinburgh who wants to do either. Returning will be later (scheduled finish is 16:30ish) so anyone building can ride after - 'coz I can carry bikes too. Less bikes more peeps, I'll see the demand and work it out.

Great to be working on Zoom or Bust again, thanks to everyone who made it along, thought it was an excellent session and a fine spread of cakes too!  Think 2 more sessions on it and we'll have the trail completed.  Can't wait to ride the whole thing.

Thanks also for being so welcoming to Niklas, Per and Erik, who were across from Sweden for a few days checking out the trails and chatting trailbuilding.  Ace to meet other folk who are as equally into their soils!  Super nice guys.  Think they got a lot out of their trip.  They've done a write up on their blog already and article with some beautiful pictures.

Here's a note from Niklas including link to their blog:

Thank you very much again for everything! We got through customs with the McLeods as well… J And yes, the black route was trule amazing!

Per, Erik and I have worked hard putting together a travel diary that try to match up with the experience we had at Glentress, but we have come no where near the wonderful time You and your collegues gave us.

I am not sure if it’s interpretable or not, but I ran the trailbuilding part of the diary (which Per has written) through Google Translate, and here’s the result:

http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=hp&hl=sv&js=y&u=http%3A%2F%2Flugnetmtb.blogspot.com%2F&sl=sv&tl=en&history_state0=

A few explanations might be necessary: “stigbyggarskola” means “trail building school”, “leads” or “joints” means “trails”.

The whole travel diary did not come through very interpretable through Google Translate, but the pictures of course did, so check out the link at the end of the blog entry.

I’m also working on putting together a small film from the trip, but is no where near being finished yet. Hope to be so in a week or so!

Cheers,
Niklas

Cheers and have a great weekend!
