I am dr Iqbal saleem working in Govt Gousia Hospital in Srinagar, For the last
6 years I have been performing Laparoscopic Surgeries in Differnt Hospitals and
nursing homes of the Valley after getting trained in the same from Apollo
Hospital New delhi and bu grace of Almighty the results have been Excellent.
till date my major problems have been 2 self limiting biliary leaks in well over
5 hundred cases. We have started the first unit of M.A.S. in a primary health
centre in the valley (Gousia hospital) and already 2 more surgeons have
developed interest and started M.A.S. I would like to share my experience with
those surgeons who have just started M.A.S.
1. Get proper training.
2. select patients properly G.B. wall<4mm.
3. train your staff and check your equipment.
4. maintain proper cephalad and lateral retraction.
5. try to visualise anatomy.
6. dissect posteriorly and form a wide window.
7. if u feel u should convert to open it is time to do so.
if we keep these basics in mind i am quite sure the results will be excellent.
what we are lacking is vedios CDs of advanced procedures. plz do send us some
if u can.
