Hello everybody,
As you may have observed, we have some problems with the metal rings on cranes
in Sweden. The newest version (2006) of the red metal rings used on the top of
the country code (left leg) has lost the red colour within only one year. That
means that these metal rings looks like white or metallic now. Thus the country
code red-red-white appears as white-red-white. Other red metal rings have become
yellowish, copper or brownish. This course unfortunately also problems within
the European colour banding which we are very sorry for. Therefore we now
decided to use common metal rings at the tarsus again. It has been done in
Sweden before but probably using to small rings. These rings got stuck at some
cranes legs and coursed injuries. In 2007 we will try with bigger rings. We will
observe theses banded cranes carefully in order to find out if metal rings get
stuck again. After the crane season we will discuss the results and decide how
to do in future.
You are very welcome with your observations and comments concerning both the new
metal rings at the tarsus and the discoloured red ones. Sigvard Lundgren is
using the bad red metal rings at the tarsus in 2007.
