Hello everyone,
At the time of the Crane conference of Verdun and Lac du Der, in
November 2000, it had been decided to create a website that would
centralize the main information concerning the migration of cranes.
This gave birth to www.grus-grus.eu in 2001.
I have been spending the last days in modifying the web pages of
grus-grus.eu that concern the "information about migration sites"
part. I have added pictures to the texts, which improves map
readability. That last modification was possible because of the
computer fittings of the users: in 2001 nearly everyone did websurf
with an 800x600 screen resolution. Today 91% of the users use a
1024x768 minimum screen resolution. It is then possible to display
more elements on such a screen.
I have noticed that the texts presenting the sites had become outdated
(included the one that presents the Lac de Champagne – shoemaker's
wives being always the worst shod!)
I therefore suggest to those who follow a wintering site in particular:
-to review the page concerning that site and if needed to send a new
text (English and / or German and / or Spanish version would be
appreciated)
-to update data in order to complete the texts
-to send me new pictures: from 2001 digital photography and the ADSL
have become widespread, allowing the use of new bigger files
Don't hesitate to propose new wintering or resting sites as it is
known the cranes have changed their habits in the last past years.
Looking forward to your sendings,
Francis Desjardins
