Hello,
Just before noon we had a great migration in Korsnäs about 40 km south
of Söderfjärden, within an hour more than 9000 cranes were flying
south following the coastline (J.Kannonlahti and T, Lövdahl). Despite
this great migration Söderfjärden still had over 3000 cranes in the
evening. Most of the migrating cranes came probably from Sweden and
from the north of Finland.
The counting of cranes so far:
19.9.07 3818 (Matti Maskulin) flying for roost and 38 flying
southwards (migration?)
20.9.07 3176 (Matti Maskulin) flying for roost and 14 flying
southwards (migration?)
23.9.07 4194 (Matti Maskulin, Harry Seppälä) all flying for roost
25.9.07 3627 (Matti Maskulin) all flying for roost
27.9.07 3013 (Matti Maskulin, Harry Seppälä) flying for roost and 140
flying southwards
Regards,
Harry Seppälä
