The new Hackney Environment Network – the first event
The new Hackney Environment Network is growing, and we would very much like you to be a part of it.
We hope you can join others to help shape the future direction of the Network at its first gathering, on Saturday 14 March, at the Arcola Theatre.
The event will help bring Network members together and provide us all with an opportunity to discuss local issues and campaigns, draw out common themes and discuss successful ways of getting things done and moving forward with our agreed goals. After all, we want change, not just talk.
As well as Workshops, Cllr. Sophie Linden, Hackney Council lead member for Sustainability, and Mary Cannon, Chair of Hackney's Community Empowerment Network, will outline current plans for the borough and consultation processes, with a Q&A session.
Date: Saturday 14 March
Time: 10am to 4pm (lunch will be provided)
Venue: Arcola Theatre, Arcola Street, E8
Proposed workshops:
1. Community politics and representation – getting heard and achieving change
2. Climate change – prevention and survival
3. Sustainability – keeping consumption within environmental limits
4. Tackling planning issues – keeping Hackney green
5. Biodiversity and the natural environment – combating mass extinction
We look forward to your participation in the conference, which will determine the shape and focus of Hackney’s Environmental Network. Please pass on this information but everyone is requested to register by sending the following details to hackneyenv@... or phoning 0771 4945971:
