Subject: CEN: Up to £5k for community networks in Hackney, drug and alcohol rep
needed, BEMA workshops
Welcome to news from Hackney's Community Empowerment Network or CEN, which aims
to raise issues in the Team Hackney partnership boards from voluntary and
community sector (VCS) networks and groups to help shape the policy and service
delivery of the Team Hackney partners. This features news from the CEN
Executive, which is made up of people from across the VCS in Hackney who are
recruited as VCS reps and have a role in one or more of Team Hackney Partnership
Boards and Sub-Groups. As well as news from Hackney's community networks some
of which are funded by the CEN.

**News from the CEN
What is the CEN up to?
We have opened our cross cutting grants programme, which funds VCS networks
which work across the five Team Hackney priority areas as well as funding
network activity within the Better Homes and Safer, Cleaner priority areas both
of which do not have an overarching network currently. The three other Team
Hackney priority areas: Children and Young People, Thriving Healthy and Economic
Development already have existing VCS networks in place. More about CEN
community networks and how they relate to Team Hackney is here:
http://www.hcvs.org.uk/EN/store/cen/CENGuide_VCS_09_readonly.pdf
We are still looking for people with experience of Drug and Alcohol issues to be
reps at Team Hackney and feed issues from the VCS into the Drug and Alcohol Team
(DAAT) Subgroup of the Safer Cleaner Partnership Board. We will also be
recruiting for reps for Culture, Housing, Youth Crime, and Domestic Violence
Sub-Groups, watch this space for more information.
Please contact: More information on the grants and reps is below. For all
issues to do with the CEN, please contact Liz Hughes at
