Press Release
Studio Expansion and Launch Party
ELP is a group of contemporary artist-printmakers.
The group was established to develop a resource for artists and the public in
Working in conjunction with SPACE, who have been
invaluable in making this expansion happen over the past few months, ELP are
now in the final stages of completing the expansion that has been months in the
planning.
The expansion will enable ELP to increase the
number of open access users and keyholders, offer more space for
workshops and an area for clean working and socializing.
Not only will the expansion increase the size of the
studio, it will also include important additions to the existing
screen-printing and etching facilities. Since moving into the current studio at
SPACE, the etching facilities have had to remain non-toxic due to insufficient
extraction and health and safety equipment. This has been limiting for users
wanting to do photo-etching, aquatints and nitric etching. That is about to
change with the new additions of a fume box, acid room and rosin room.
The extra space and workbenches means an increase in the number of open access
places, and we are able to offer better facilities for our users.
Other additions to the studio will be sound-proofing
for the screen-printing washout unit, another screen-printing bed and a brand
new exposure unit for photo-etching.
Please come along to the Launch Party and see for
yourself. Information about how to become an ELP member or use the studio as an
open access user can be found on our website: www.eastlondonprintmakers.co.uk.
