New opportunities for young Londoners - An invitation from the Mayor
The State of London Debate brings Londoners together to discuss key
concerns affecting them. This year’s debate will focus on one of the
most important issues facing the capital – how to increase
opportunities for young Londoners and help young people share in the
city’s success.
One of my first acts as Mayor was to create a new role of Deputy Mayor
for Young People and appoint Ray Lewis to do this job. Actor and
documentary maker Ross Kemp and Munira Mirza the GLA’s new Director of
Policy, Arts, Culture and the Creative Industries will join us and
Jennette Arnold of the London Assembly will chair the event.
The State of London Debate is your chance to discuss with us what you
think is best about London and what you think our priorities should be
for the next four years. I hope you will be able to join me, and help
mould London’s future.
This event will discuss issues of interest to young people, and we
wish to encourage the attendance and contribution of young Londoners
to the debate. However, anyone wishing to attend under the age of 16
must be accompanied by a responsible adult (e.g. parent, teacher or
carer).
