Dear Hackney Residents,
Hackney is taking part in the first
‘Watch Your Waste Week’, along with six other London boroughs, which will run from 4 – 10 October so there's lots of
time to plan ahead and get involved.
We’re asking residents to join Hackney’s ‘Zero Waste Challenge’. The challenge is to produce as little waste as possible during ‘Watch Your Waste Week’, by reducing, reusing and recycling as much as you can. You don't have to reach zero - it's the taking part that matters, but you may be surprised at just how little you can throw away when you make that special effort.
Residents will be asked to monitor the amount of waste produced in their normal day to day routine prior to the week, and then monitor their waste during the week, making a conscious effort to reduce their waste.
If you are interested in taking on this challenge, please email me to request an expression of interest form which you need to me. Once I receive this I will include you in the participant’s list and send you the official ‘Challengers Pack’ containing great ideas and initiatives to reduce, reuse and recycle, as well as some activities you can undertake to reduce waste. The pack (example of the cover below) will also contain top tips on composting, and great reuse ideas, such as turning that old cardboard box into a robot, or a jam pot into a sweetie jar.
Residents will be provided with all the tools and information they need to carry out a successful waste challenge, why not join in the fun and see just how easy it is to make a difference. Remember to send it your friends and colleagues that live in North London.
If you have got any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on 020 8356 3806.
Kind Regards,
Ander Zabala
