LONDON WEEK OF PEACE
13TH - 21ST September 2008
http://www.weekofpeace.org.uk

make your voice heard at this years Week of Peace awards and nominate
stars in your community.

Last years annual Peace Awards was a resounding success with Londoners
receiving recognition for their concerted efforts, bravery and courage
in opposing all sorts of violence in their communities. Individuals
and organisations received £6,000 on the night in total to encourage
growth and a financial aid in the progression of their work.

This year's awards will again solidify what the London Week of Peace
is setting out to achieve, awards for the people by the people. This
years theme is 'Dreams' developing Real Examples And Mentors and based
upon the need to provide good role models and mentors for young
people, and our guest of honour at this year's event is the Home
Secretary, The Right Honourable Jacqui Smith.

We are now accepting nominations for the 11 award categories. Nominees
should be based or residing in London and community schemes entering
should show minimum 6 months activity.

For full rules, guidelines and application forms please contact The
Peace Alliance on 0208 808 9439 or visit
http://www.weekofpeace.org.uk/ to apply online. All completed forms
must reach The Peace Alliance c/o LWOP 117 Bruce Grove, Tottenham,
London, N17 6UR by September 5th.

There will be a charity auction during the evening with highly sought
after donated prizes. Last years prizes included an opportunity to co
host any show live on London's Choice FM, time in a recording studio
to create a song and again the Peace banner will be re-auctioned. The
money raised from the evening is put back into the 'Community Fund'
creating more opportunities and offering assistance to groups and
individuals across London working towards creating safer
neighbourhoods and boroughs.

The LWOP 2008 awards take place at The Royal Garden Hotel on the 18th
September 2008. For table bookings or more information about the
awards please contact the Peace Alliance on 0208 808 9439.

Notes for editors:
* In September 2001, The Peace Alliance set up the first Week
Of Peace as a response to local community safety concerns. From 1
borough to all 33 in London in 7 years, the Peace Alliance is
spearheading a forward thinking movement which aims to arm Londoners
with the knowledge, support and voice to creating a safer city.
Founder of The Peace Alliance, Pastor Nims Obunge says that the London
Week of Peace's mission is to "challenge all Londoners to make a
positive change in their communities by engaging in a community safety
agenda for London.
* The London Week of Peace is a multi-agency initiative led
by the Peace Alliance in partnership with local community, faith and
voluntary groups, the Metropolitan Police and the Home Office and GLA.
