Paul!
Hi, and welcome to the greatest hobby you will ever have. To
properly learn to fire a locomotive with coal, you are best off to
get together with someone who knows what they are doing! It really
isn't something you can safely learn from a book! Now, to not scare
you off, thert are a lot of fine folks out here who'd just love to
help you out! As I am the East Coast USA secretary for the
International Brotherhood of Live Steamerts, I can tell you the
location of virtually every club and live steam enthusiast in my
territory of the Eastern USA. Or, I ca put you in touch with
secretaries for the IBLS all over the world, with the exception of
the United Kingdom. They have a large number of clubs and well known
publications to help then find each other. But throughout the rest of
the world, Live Steamers are few and far between, so we have a
registry, like the IBLS to help us find each other! If you send me a
letter along with an SASE, I will both register you, for free, with
the IBLS, and also send you a list of steamers near your home, if you
are within the eastern third of the USA. If you are outside of the
east Coast territory, I will forward your info to the appropriate
secretary and give you his name and address as well, to contact him
for the location of local steam fans. At a club, you will find lots
of fellowsteam nuts, and all the help you need!
Keith Taylor IBLS Secretary, East Coast USA
709 Waldoboro Road, Jefferson, Maine 04348-3642 USA
Hope to hear from you soon! Sincerely, Keith
