Hi there David,
They still exist in the back issues of model engineer (I can give you the
exact dates, etc if you're interested). I made myself a complete set of
copies of them a few months back (if you're interested, I might be
persuaded to run of a copy of them for a small fee - alternatively though,
your local model engineering club might have a complete set of the
relevant magazines in their library).
As far as the actual drawings themselves are concerned, I've tracked
copies of some of them down to Australia, and fingers crossed should be
receiving copies of these at some point in the not too distant future.
Castings wise, you can probably get all you need from...
http://www.glrmodelsupplies.com/
...(ie driving wheels from Olympiade maybe, possibly bogie wheels also).
The only thing that may cause problems is the cylinder castings, which are
quite a long stroke, similar to those of Caterpillar I'm lead to believe.
As far as the original patterns for Helen Long are concerned, at least one
set seems to have been deliberately destroyed as part of an agreement when
one business changed hands (if Paul is reading this column, he can fill
you in on this better than I, if you are interested).
Is this of any use?
Yours,
Rich.
