Re: Engines on e-bay

My own observations on ebay are that ANY part built chassis goes for
silly money, usually the more complete the better the value for
money. What amazes me is the unknown junk that somebody turns up, and
sells, not knowing what they have and somebody buys it unseen.
The maxim, its old so it must be worth something (and then some more)
applies.
Look at people selling ME mags, start price 99p PLUS postage of 50p
or £1.00, yet club prices for these are 5p-20p!

I recently viewed a complete Fayette, which I would not have wanted
if I were given it, turning up on the C Heapy web site for the same
money as ebay, (I wonder who has it now).

Yet on the other end of the scale, daytime time TV (junk in the attic
or similar) a restored Raleigh motorbike circa 1920's was sold at
auction for £1,800. If there had been wider coverage who knows what
it might have fetched.

Alan, Depends on your view I suppose. A scratch built GNR Atlantic with some basic bits missing and sold unseen for £400 sounds on the high side, but an A3...

I agree completely David, but then they are probably all cheap compared to the true cost of making a new one. I bought parts for a Carson LNWR Experiment from...
