I wouldn't expect my club boiler inspector to approve of such practices.
I'd get his advice before proceeding down that line. Indeed, a boiler test
before doing much more would be wise, as if the boiler is scrap, then it
would change the direction of the project a little....
Generally, inspectors seem to be a mine of information.
