Mick
I run a vintage Atlantic very successfully on anthracite beans, much to the
surprise sometimes of
other members. When I first started I used the anthracite peas and could
rarely get and keep a good fire.
Then one day, a wise gentleman in the know, George Barlow, asked me what I
was using, I said peas, and
he said, chuck them away and get in the box the largest you can, the peas
don't let enough air through
the fire. How right he was. Thanks George.
You can get anthracite beans from most coal suppliers as they use them in
heating boilers, but, it can be
good or bad. I use the steam coal beans from Maxitrak which have been ok so
far. Its important that
they are fresh. Something that has been in the back of the bunker for years,
is no good.
Hope this helps
