Robin,
I know you posted the original message last October but I've just come
across some information that may refer to the Atlantic that you have.
I've just acquired some more early Model Engineers and on reading the
'Shop, Shed and Road' articles in volume 53, I've found reference to
the Keniston Atlantic in issue 1,276 (October 8th, 1925).
In this issue LBSC tells of a visit by a Mr Keniston and Mr Collins in
which they all discuss a proposed design for a 4-4-0 Atlantic that
Messrs Keniston and Collins intended to build. It would appear that
the new loco was based on Ayesha but with a few alterations. A very
good description of the details of the loco is given in the article.
The part finished loco was taken back to Norbury and tested a few
weeks later and put up a good show, pulling Keniston and Collins
despite poor weather.
Further reference to the loco is given in issue 1,288 ( December 31st,
1925) when the loco was again run on LBSC's railway. This time the
loco pulled Keniston, Collins, and LBSC! There is also a photo in this
issue.
If your loco is indeed the very same one, then you have a very
valuable piece of history!
Also in issue 1,276, LBSC says that Mr Collins intended to build a
three cylinder version with piston valves.
I can send you some scans of the articles if you haven't access to
them yourself.
