I don't know off hand if caulking is still allowed on new boilers, but I'm
sure they won't ban it for existing ones. Can you imagine the number of
scrap boilers if they do ban caulking!

ps, I'm totally against using any soft solder as you can not then do any
high temp work, say if you want an extra bush or 2 as I've done with my
Clayton lorry.

Surely the issue here is more one of whether or not it previously had a boiler certificate? If it did then you should be fine. If it didn't, then you may have...
