Hi everybody,
My Association (SARSPA - The South African Railways Steam
Preservation Association & SAR Livesteam Group)have organised another
fantastic Annual UK SAR/African Livesteam Meet this year taking place
in two weeks time at the Harrow & Wembley Model Engineering Society
Ground Level UK Track on 16th/17th June 2007.
You can visit their website at:
http://www.hwsme.org.uk/
With the previous two meetings being a great success, this year is no
exeption and promises to be even BIGGER and better than the others,
packing in as much SAR Steam action and Night running as possible in
two spectacular days. South African Steam enthusiasts in the UK at
the time are invited to attend.
Richard Niven who used to fire on the full size 25NC locomotives will
be driving up from Scotland with his big 5" gauge 23 Class and 5"
gauge 16E Pacific locomotives.
Andrew Giffen will hopefully bring his three 3 1/2" gauge SAR
locomotives along - 2 15F's and a 16DA locomotive.
My 16DA is unfortionately being overhauled so will not steam.
Bruce Hope will bring his partially complete 15F in 3 1/2" gauge to
display. My fiance's recently refurbished Class C1 Pacific Colliery
Tank locomotive will hopefully be in steam provided all pipework is
solid when she undergoes steam/hydraulic testing this week - Andrew
Giffen has done a fantastic job of her.
David Batty who owns another 16DA should be bringing his loco to the
meet as well. At the previous meet a chap named Brian brought along
a partially complete 25NC in 3 1/2" gauge and boy was that a nice
looking loco! Wether he brings it along to this meet I am not
certain.
There is also a chance of Mike Jones bringing along his 15CA and 15F
in 3 1/2" gauge.
If the 16mm Garratt owners pitch up then we may even see some 32mm
Gauge NGG 16's in steam - a few are even coal-fired!
Those bringing locos along will be welcome to tea/coffee with the
possibility of a boerewors braai in the evening mixed with the
unmistakable aroma of coal smoke. Please bring a valid boiler
certificate if you wish to steam your engine. If you wish to steam
in the evening please make sure you have a working headlight and cab
lighting to keep an eye on gauge-glasses.
There will be an SAR Steam DVD playing in the Clubhouse for those
wishing to see some full size SAR Steam in action.
If anyone has any SAR items they wish to share with like-minded SAR
steam enthusiasts bring it along.
There is room on the grounds for camping but please let me know in
advance if you wish to camp.
Anyone modelling SAR HO please feel free to bring a portable layout
and there may be a chance we can hook up some juice so you folks can
run as well!
The Association website is quite out of date and needs updating but
you can still go and have a look:

Looking forward to seeing you there!
The Association would like to start an Annual SAR Livesteam weekend
event in South Africa. If you are part of a Livesteam club and want
to be an embassador for my Association to get this organised then
contact me.
I would also like to do the same with SAR HO Modelling, can you help
my Association get started with this? I am looking for a club or
person with a sizeable SAR layout to host the first meeting of its
kind exclusively for SAR Steam.
Kind Regards
Bryn Morgan
