As I understand it, all model engineer's suppliers act as agents for Nexus
and they are printed to order by Nexus. I would not expect any supplier to
keep copies of all plans, as the range is very large and our scale is not
the most popular. The only variation between the suppliers generally is the
quality of castings available (if any). Individual suppliers will own any
patterns involved and there can be significant differences between castings
from different sources, although most will machine correctly to the
drawings.
Before ordering too much from any one supplier, ask a few questions about
the model to gauge their technical competence to help out if you get stuck.
One of the most well known suppliers is unable to answer basic queries on
setting the valves on any loco, for example. If they don't understand the
hobby, they won't be able to supply the quality and support you need.
Hope this helps,
Simon.
