Great Western numberplates query.   Message List

Re: [Half inch live steam forum] Great Western numberplates query.

Cost is very much dependant on the technolgy used. - Lost wax cabside plates
would be around £25 a pair due to the inherent production costs, if etched
items were acceptable, it could be less than half that. I don't have any
photos, as this is very much trying to gauge interest before cutting metal.
I do have
some examples of patterns for 5" gauge plates and etched gauge 1 plates, but
this would be a new project and so would not be directly related to the
items available in other scales.
My website is www.OldTimeWorkshop.co.uk but this mainly deals with 4mm & 7mm
scale. Gauge 1 and above is mainly through the model engineering suppliers
like Polly, Blackgates and Maxitrak. I'm not sure if they would want to
carry these as they might be more of a 'commision'/special order basis,
rather than the standard waterslide transfers they all carry at present.
I hope this clarifies.

Simon.
