Hi,
We give dry powder baby food to our young babies ( 6days old +) this enables them to try solid food much earlier and helps them grow.
I would not give it to our older hamsters.

We've had them for over 2 months now, shouldn't they have already been
used to each other? We have them separated for now, and are just going
to buy another cage. They really like each other, they sleep together
all the time and rarely do anything to the other.

Hello! We got 2 dwarf Russian hamsters at the beginning of September
from a pet store. They're both supposed to be male. Today, the smaller
one (Turkish) keeps sniffing the other one's (Boris) butt and chasing
him around. Boris will just flip over and stay like that or squeak and
box him away. They don't normally fight much at all. We tried sexing
them, and Turkish is definitely male, but we can't tell if Boris is.
Could he be a she? Or what would cause the weird butt-sniffing and
aggression?
Thanks!
Autumn

Hi there and welcome.

I am trying to contact as many hamster organisations throughout the world that I can. If there is such a thing as a Russian Hamster club I would love a contact email address.

Hi all, I'm Anna, and I'm 27.
I live in Russia and I've been on Smartgroups for a few months, but it somehow never occurred to me I should introduce myself. It seems the new Hamsters Online group can be a second chance for me to do it, so now that everyone's started I thought I'd join in :)

I have a longhair Syrian hamster named Woldemar, got him from a pet shop two years ago. Unfortunately, I do not know his exact age or anything about his parents, but he must be something around 2 years 1.5 months old. He's black, although the color seems to be poor quality for a black - the fur on the skirt looks light gray, and with age he's getting more and more brown spots. Anyway, I never meant to show him, so the color has never been a problem. I love Woldemar the way he is.

Woldemar is a happy hamster, and although I know he's getting elderly he still runs in his wheel a lot and does a lot of stuff that makes me laugh. For example, he's a good cook :D If I give him baby food (vegetable stuff that goes in small glass jars - like Hipp or Gerber), he soaks seeds, pellets and bread in it and sometimes tops the whole thing with fresh fruit or vegetables - looks like some sort of soup or sald :D My family finds Woldemar's cooking habits hillariously funny :D

I do not think I'll ever get a second hamster, Woldemar is so unique and I want him to stay that way. I try to pamper him in all sorts of ways and I hope God gives us another year together.

Here's a picture of Woldemar (taken May this year):
And some smaller ones:
And another one showing Woldemar and me together:

Nice to meet everyone,
Anna.

I'm PJ one half of Wellington hamsters I was a member of the old list too but gave up on it as some messages took months to get through. Am well chuffed we've moved to a different location we can get things moving again.
I'm 27 live in swindon and am a relitive newbie to breeding and showing and I am also a training judge for the southern hamster club and Midland hamster clubs. have only been active in the fancy for just under 2 years. I have about 14 syrians and many many more dwarf hamsters and Melissa the other half of the partnership has a few more than that ;)

Hi Everyone,
I have just gone through all members at this time and taken them off
Moderation.
I would like to remind all that our membership does contain people of
all ages so please watch your language. Also please be aware that
although your comments may be accurate they may distress some of our
younger members. If you think your reply might do this but the post
needs this type of reply can you please reply direct to the person
rather than a general post.

If everyone thinks of everyone else I am sure we will all get on. We
will always get one silly person who makes rude or silly posts but
hopefully one of the moderators will quickly pick this up and put that
member on moderation or block them or even ban them.

Well all enjoy this group. Hopefully posts will not be delayed as they
were on Smartgroups.

Personally I wouldn't feed them shop bought treats they are too full of sugar. If you want to give them treats give them bits of fruit and veg instead. Or dog milk bones, they love them. Its funny watching a Robo trying to get to grips with a milk bone.
