I would like to be able to hear - I think! When I got my digital aids it was a
shock and I was traumatised for ages by hearing noises I had not heard for
years. I am not sure I want to hear everything, but I would dearly love to hear
some things better- speech, especially my grandchildren! But I most definitely
dont want beeping things, fax machines, or clacky highheeled shoes.
But how far would I go. I am concerned about the ethics of the experiments.
Someone has to draw the line somewhere. But who and where? We can all imagine
that mad scientist going further and further just to see what he could do.
I only want Frankenstein if he does housework and cooking.

Hi, thanks for your input. You say "anything that can aid...", but
surely, there are boundaries? How far can we go in the name of
research? Where do we draw the line?
I hope to hear from more people in the group, as it would be nice to
have several opinions / points of view. Surely, I can't be the only
deaf/ened person finding it hard to reconcile the strong wish for a
cure to my deafness, with my ethical values?
