Morning all

Well, it's a grotty Sunday morning here in sunny
Bournemouth - it does rain here sometimes! - and we're
getting back to normal after the two party conferences
(Lib Democrats and Conservatives). The town was taken
over for a few weeks by people wearing rosettes and
policemen with guns - still a rare sight in England. Not as
bad though as last years Labour conference - farmers
and field sports enthusiasts had a couple of protest
rallys, with thousands of them walking through the town,
ending up in front of the Bournemouth International
Centre (BIC). I felt sorry for them though, they led a
small cow in front of the procession, which did what a
cow has to do all the way to the BIC and the
following masses had no choice but to walk in it! The
conferences don't really affect the town populace though,
apart from a rush to the post office to make sure your
car is taxed! It does mess up my day a bit though - I
work for the council and look after all the council
buildings (I'm a surveyor), including the BIC and all the
venues used by Conference, so during conference time I
can't get anywhere near them. Oh well, more time to
read my newspaper (It is the council after all!).
Let's be hearing from y'all - its been getting a bit
boring recently.
