moving the group, and volunteers   Message List

hi all, as my other e-mail said, as of the next meeting we will be at
the new church! it will be a sort of trial to make sure everything
works well at the new place. I haven't told the church in Hayes we are
moving yet, so I will let them know we're not going to be there this
time, and if we all like the new place let the old place know we're gone
for good. (hope that made sense!)

Now . . .at some point my family and I are moving - all the way to
Milton Keynes if it goes according to plan. I will need to find someone
to take over the organisation of this group, and so I'm asking for
volunteers :0)
All being well we will be moved by Christmas, but other than that I
can't be specific.

I would love to find a small group of people to work together on this,
so it's easier all round, and to that end Sue has said she is happy to
do the computer side of things - managing this Yahoo group, sending
reminders and responding to e-mail enquiries. Julie is happy to be one
of several people who look after the tidying up end of things.

I would think that if between you three people could volunteer then we
could have two sharing responsibility for 'opening up' at the beginning
of the sessions, I see this as being first there, and starting to set
up. At the moment lots of people help set up as they arrive, so it's
not a difficult task at all, simply making sure someone from the group
is there from the 'start time', and to greet any new-comers. The third
volunteer would be to share the 'finishing' duties - making sure we
leave the place tidy and letting the Pastor know to lock up etc. Julie
is happy to do this part, but there are some times she cannot make,
especially during the summer, so having two people willing to do this
will ensure it goes smoothly. At the moment the group as a whole shares
the tidying up, I really just do all the small things that the Hayes
church insists on (which the new place may or may not want), like
emptying bins, checking loo's have been flushed and there are no
puddles, and then just a check around for obvious problems (I don't
think we'll need to count the number of chairs in each pile like I have
to at Hayes, or set up for a parent and toddler group the next day).

I am very happy to carry on running things until we have a group of
people happy to take over, but I would love to have this properly sorted
before we (The Impey family) move, so that the group will carry on
smoothly.

So . . .any volunteers?
