RE: [hertfordshiretpa] Re:General monthly meeting, 7/10/2008, 18:30

Dear all,

Thanks to some reorganisation at HQ, our new office manager is sorting out our public liability insurance.

Second, I have to give my apologies for tomorrow as I have another event that’s been on my books for a while.

Regarding the couple fighting the Olympics surcharge, Rick was the point man on that but I as yet haven’t heard much from him about it.

Regarding the banking crisis, we’re in the process of writing a paper on it.  I wouldn’t expect any change in direction.  When it’s done I will forward it onto everyone.

I like the idea about counter protesting any public sector/town hall strikes.  If you know one in advance, let me know so I can let others know.

If you’ve organised any other campaign/action days do let me know and I will do my best to make it along.

Best wishes,

Tim

Martin,
We need to discuss attending Hatfield Market again and possibly setting up something in Welwyn Garden City. My contact says its alright for us to go to Hatfield Market again.
What's the latest on the Public Liability issue?
Is there any info on the more recent Court cases on Council Tax? What happened with the couple fighting the surcharge in Barnet for the Olympics?
In the light of the banking fiasco, does HQ have any changes of strategy in mind or points to make about the amount of tax payers money being proposed to get out of this mess?
If public sector workers demonstate for more pay I propose we counter-demonstrate against paying any more tax to pay for any increase in wages with the intention of making it clear to Government that initiative must be used to find ways of funding it other than the "easy route" of increasing taxes, eg job cuts.
Richard Griffiths
