General meeting Herts TPA Tue 6-Jan-09

Dear Member

This is a summary of points arising from the above meeting.

Martin T and Richard G attended.  Absences noted.

1. Find out from Tim Aker what recruitment numbers have been over the period of the Farmer's Market canvassing campaign.  MJT to obtain updated contact database for Hertfordshire to determine merit of a
future mailshot.

2. Strategy.  Herts TPA will focus on getting the TPA brand-name out, rather than organise recruitment campaigns.  Herts TPA should continue to canvass at markets, to write commentary to local papers (or via their blogpages) and to maintain own blogs (if members do so).

3. Market canvassing.  Next market canvassing will be Hatfield on Sat 7-Feb-09.  St Albans will get a dose of Herts TPA on Sat 7-Mar-09.  At St Albans, Herts TPA to review merit of doing both markets every other month.

4. Links to other organisations.  Herts TPA to review approaches to i) Federation of Small Businesses; ii) Institute of Directors; iii) Confederation of Business Industry.  Any local contacts that National TPA would like to offer would be gratefully received.

5. Note. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales is planning to run a project to enhance financial literacy of schoolteachers.  This will accomplish a major objective of the TPA without any involvement on the TPA's part.

6. Note. The demise of Instant Access Properties Limited and its trading wing Inside Track Seminars means that there should be a lot of seriously pissed off investors out there.  These are potentially back-seat activists.  Columnist Barry Tyler might be one such lead for National TPA to befriend.

7. Note.  Herts Chamber of Commerce is hosting a business breakfast briefing in Stevenage on Fri 16-Jan-09.  For ~£30, attendees can listen to  Paul Robinson, Director and Chief Sterling Strategist at
Barclays Capital.  Unfortunately, all of the places are now fully-booked.  A "credit crunch seminar" on 27-Jan-09 is also sold out.

Herts Chamber of Commerce have an interesting line-up of food-related seminars, which would suit a cash-rich, time-rich campaigner who likes a more gentle pace of marketing.  If you are interested, please look at the list of events on
