Hi Guys,
Just to let you know if you haven't already found out, we have changed our main
forum to facebook.
More people seamed to be comfortable with that idea as most people had a login.
(once again you are not forced to post details)
Just search for hikeessex.
It would be great if you joined us there.

Hello all,
Im so sorry I didnt see you all sunday........lol I've had a
nightmare week!
I woke up sunday morning got all ready for the walk and everything,
however my boyfriend, Danny, had been throwing up most of the night,
we went to a BBQ the day before and thought maybe he'd eaten a dodgy
sausage, so we were both knackered, despite that danny said he'd drop
me off so we got the kids in the car and headed over to coggeshall,
we were running late, found the car park eventually but you had all
gone! We drove about a bit to see if we could see you, but had no
luck, then on the way home I started to get a sore throat and my
glands on my neck really swelled, well the rest of the day I got much
worse, my temp shot up to 40 and I had to go to bed, by the evening
NHS Direct called out an ambulance because I couldnt get my temp
down, they gave me something and told me to go to the docs in the
morning, danny was still very ill aswell.
We were both rough monday, I went to the docs and they said I had
tonsilitus, so went home with medication, tuesday, I rested and danny
seemed ok with the sickness but got a pain in his side, which got
worse throughout the day. Wednesday morning I was up at 4am and
couldnt breathe, my glands had swelled so much my throat was closing
up, I took some medication and went back to bed, later I woke up and
was worse I tried to take a paracetamol to get my temperature down
and got it stuck in my throat, called NHS direct, they adivised for
the next half hour what to do to get this pill unstuck, it was scary,
then they told me to go back to the doctor, so I made an appointment
for the morning, danny was throwing up again, and his pain got worse
so he made an apointment aswell.
I went to the docs they took one look at me and told me I had
Glandular Fever and Tonsilitus, was given double dosage of 3
different liquid medicines, Danny went to the docs in the afternoon,
he had an appendicitus!! So he was whisked off to the hospital and
had his appendix removed thursday night, he was discharged Friday
evening, we are both now recovering and looking after eachother,
however I'm playing nurse too, you can just imagine what it was
like...... me like death warmed up, danny shouting out in pain and a
3 year old and 4 month old in the background......what a week!
Thing is I've had glandular fever before but it was never like this
and I thought you can only get it once! I still feel rough and now my
eyes look like I've been punched.
Ahum... however I WILL be coming to the next walk so help me god! x
It looks like if you just hit reply, you get to reply to everyone anyway.
Glad to hear you should make the Dedham walk, according to others it sounds like one of the best walks around (Countable country and all that, I wonder if the hayweign is still stuck?)
Great news that you are thinking about the camping as well, I'm sure when we get a bit closer to the time we can sort out all the details, see how people want to play it. I'm very easy (or so I've heard it being said), so we can do what suits people. There are at least 5 so far
Hopefully see you on the Dedham walk if not before ;-)

Yes it seems to be working but you do have to go round the houses just to reply, click on the message then click continue to message then click reply, it copies the whole previous message out but you can just hightlight it all and delete it, well thats what I did anyways!
Unfortunately the hangover from the wedding was much worse than I had anticipated! Partly to blame was the free unlimited amounts of wine and champagne! So I didn't manage to get to the Mill Green walk but shall be joining you all in Dedham on the 13th all being well.
I am contemplating the camping trip aswell, but the last time I camped was with the girl guides(a long time ago!) With the camping trip do we need to bring things like a portable mini gas hob thing and pans etc?

Hi Guys,
I'm just after a little bit of feedback, we haven't been posting too
many messages on the hike essex group and so its been questioned
whether it is working :-(
Can people just let me know if it works for you or if you have any
problems (a quick OK would be great)
On other news front, I have just posted the new program as a
downloadable pdf to teh website, at
http://www.hikeessex.org.uk/index_files/Diary.htm
So hope to see a few of you along there soon, especially an extra
special monopoly walk in the centre of London on teh 19th July, where
we will have 2 other groups joining us. It'll be great, even if I say
so myself ;o)
Bye for now
Jon
Hi guys,
Following on from Maries request, great news we have the next walks
program almost ready.
There will be the usual walks every 2nd and 4th Sunday in the month and
then there will be a special one added Saturday 19th July, which is a
Monopoly walk in the centre of London. This will be a joint walk with
the Cambridge and the Stour groups. But its aimied at a bit of fun.
In addition we will be running a couple of evening walks each month
whilst we still have some light nights. These are generally on the
Mondays but in case people can't make Mondays, we are mixing the days
up a bit, especially as one will end at a pub quiz which is every
Wednesday in that pub :-)
Jon
Hi, Jon & Catherine!
Thank you for making me feel welcome!
I am considering the Mill Green walk however I'm at my boyfriends
brothers wedding the day before so I'm not sure yet if I will be in a
fit state to be walking, but will see you there if I can find a
suitable cure for a possible hangover!
If not then will hopefully be attending the next one. I have 2 young
boys too, ones nearly 3 and ones just over 2 months old! So have to
work around my better half's work shift. It's not like the old days hey
when weekends WERE weekends!
Does anybody know when the next diary of walks is going to be issued? x
Hello Marie,
I'm Catherine. I've only managed one walk with the group so far but
hope to manage a few more in the future - it all depends if the timing
fits in with when my ex has my little boy. From what I've seen,
everyone in the group seems really nice.
Bye for now,
Catherine x
