Re: [homeeducatorsUK] home educating my daughter

Hi
You are the one raising you daughter, no one else, and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.  What matters is how you and your daughter feel.  If you sincerely believe HE would be best for you and your daughter then do it.  Socialising is not a problem.  Think about how much kids do outside of school!  The local leisure centre/sports centre will have junior activities she can take part in weekly such as tennis or gymnastics; most areas have a children's drama club; their are dance classes; all sorts of opportunities for mixing.  And there will no doubt be an HE support group locally that arranges classes and outings so she can mix with other HE children.  As for working 4 days, personally I have no experience as I work from home but I know that lots of mums work and HE and seem to make it work fine.  There may be another HE family nearby who would happily have your daughter with them for one of those days.  The decision has to be solely yours (and your daughters') but if you really want to do it, then do it, and don't let the ignorant opinions of others stop you.  Good luck whatever you decide.  What area are you in?

Can anyone give me advice?
I have a 12 year old who I feel would benefit a great deal from being
home educated.
her father and I have split and I've been considering it since she was
7 but he and friends of ours won't give it the time of day.
I really want to get away from secondry schools as i feel they are not
doing a good job and pressure children. I work 4 days a week. Can I
still home educate dispite this. and will she still mix with her own
age group
advice would be great.
thanks
bev
