Hello Geoff and thanks for the tip. Yes I was in 1st gear and have since
changed my riding technique, I find that the bike feels like it is labouring if
I use 3rd at low speeds which is why I drop down a gear, but will certainly only
use 1st for pulling away now.

Many thanks, Graham.

I suspect you might be in the wrong gear...... try keeping in a higher gear like
third...... you're not in first are you?.......you' ll find the bike will
comfortably corner in third gear and if you shut the throttle down, you won't
get that lurching/sudden braking effect..... hopefully!
Geoff

Subject: [Honda Deauville] Handling of my DV
Firstly may I say a big thanks to those who answered my query about the
difference between new and old etc.
Secondly, I am now the proud owner of a 1999 DV with just 30k on the
clock. I picked it up today and am very pleased with it, however I have
one problem that is obviously a rider induced fault, and that is at low
speed (cornering, traffic, roundabouts etc), I throttle off and the
engine shuts down very quickly which can cause me to wobble and will be
uncomfortable for a pillion passenger, plus it could throw me off in
the wet. I counteract it by slipping the clutch and get a much smoother
ride...... What am I doing wrong please......
Graham.
