Hello all.

Had some good feed back from you all about meing a new rider so will
ask another question.
My bike is 1999 vintage with 30k on the clock and runs very very well,
I have ironed out the jerking throttle which as you all suggested was
my own riding fault.
However, I now have a back firing situation. I can just hear it when I
throttle off approaching a roundabout, junction, long hill etc and at
one point it was a definate back fire.
Is this normal or do I need to start checking things out or give the
bike back to the selling dealer to sort.
I am returning around 170 miles to the tank which is better than my
last bike.

Graham.

Hi Graham, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The Deauville was always set to run quite lean and it's not surprising that it does backfire a little. I think...

Hello John and thanks for the reply. Yes, I am filling up before reserve, I am not sure how the bike will react if I let it run down to reserve (i.e carb...

Hi Graham, There'll be no adverse reaction to letting it run onto reserve, the biggest problem can be restarting it if it runs dry before you can switch the...

On mine 2003 model, I have changed the fuel pump, to a facet pump, who makes a little clicking sound. The few times I have runned mine empty, I have discovered...

A couple of things spring to mind here, firstly the backfiring - my Deauville always backfired on the over-run, and it was apparently down to air entering the...
