Aye,

the man whose name is mentioned in lttle more than hushed tones by
the inhabitants of hella's domain won this titanic struggle of
intelectual power.

the man known as the all-giving who now mercilessly holds my fate in
his palm with the sworn oath of a 'favour owed'

the man, nay the legend that is PAUL!

he correctly deduced the quote was from 'Goodness gracious me'!

P.S. Calum do you actually exist or are you a glitch in the web?
if you are real pop into the meetings occasionally, we could always
do with a few new foot soilders :), that goes for you too miss
invaderservo we promise we will not show any signs of insanity until
the medicine wears off.

Yep, a few new people and we'll have enough to take Blackburn Library
by force, holding everyone in the non-fiction section as an expendable
workforce, with everyone in the children's library keeping us (as our
dictators' rights, um, dictate) in an endless supply of hot drinks and
chocolate chip cookies! We could rule the world! Or at least Town Hall
Street. Anyone steps out of line and it's a solid thumpin' round the
back of the noggin with one of those returns trolley-thingies, that'll
teach 'em.

Why go to all the trouble of lugging heavy trolly-thingies when you
can cause just as much damage with the most abundant item in the
library.......Paper!!

Do you know how much pain you can cause with a few well placed paper
cuts and if you want to really go medevil on their tushes you can also
add salt!

LOL

Anyway, this is just a reminder that the meeting is at 11am on Saturday.

Also before I forget, for those youthful people who fall in the 16 -24
age bracket in this group, on Sunday 25th at 11am I'm taking a group to
Smiths to buy magazines for The Curve.

Only hella's domain? I must be slipping I won't even go into the nicknames
i had at school and college (well the nicer ones).
As for paper cuts ever seen a film called Swimming with Sharks with Kevin
Spacey ?.
Were we reading Star wars this time round? If so does anyone want me to
bring in the manga wars in?
If you are all going medieval at the library, would it be ok if I go post
modern its just a tad more colorful I promise not to go minimalist.

Hello and from me hello
Hope prom in the park went well, just a couple of quick questions

1: when is the next meeting about the 8th?
2: the manga comp, if your inner child does count does that mean
cannibals can enter twice?*
3: does the liberary have any novels from Marvel? Seen DC. Dark
hourse and even some Image
4: what would happen if I make a half man half monkey being?

*Don't mean to eat a child more an adult who has a inner child. I

can anyone name ten marvel characters which have died AND STAYED
DEAD?

Heard firefly may have a couple of more films made.

Lemme see how many Marvel characters I can name who fit that category
that anyone has any hope of recognising and that aren't major/recent
spoilers, not counting versions of said characters from parallel
realities, all in no particular order:

-Harry Osborn
-Moira McTaggart
-Anyone from Origin bar Wolverine
-Uncle Ben (so far)
-Captain Marvel I (as far as I know)
-Gwen Stacy's Dad the Police Captain
-Kraven the Hunter I
-Ben Reilly (so far)
-Jim Wilson (one of the Hulk's ex-sidekicks and cousin of the Falcon,
Captain America's sidekick)
-Destiny (Future-foretelling Mutant, Rogue's foster mother alongside
Mystique)
-A couple of members of the Brotherhood of Mutants (namely Pyro and
Mastermind I, possibly others)

I'm sure Nassar and possibly Paul can add to the list, as I've got at
least 11 confirmed really-really-dead people there already...

As for Marvel stuff in print, I've got some, notably UK reprints of
most of the Ultimate line, and various classic Marvel reprints (you'll
have to ask for the ones you want as there're too many to list here
off the top of my head), New Avengers #1-8, Ultimates 2 #1-6 or 7,
TPBs of Cable (Vol. 1 and 2), Cable/Deadpool (Vol. 1) and Ultimate
Spider-Man: Venom, and Ultimates 1 (Vol. 1 and 2) that I can think of
off the top of my head.

See you all next meet - October 1st, right? :)

Hiya,

Proms in the Park was brill, got a bit wet though. (I was on TV)

1. The next meeting is at the usual time of 1pm - 3pm
2. hmm, I'll probably have to wait to see who enters. :-)
3. That's an interesting question. Marvel does not have many graphic
novels with Titan who seem to be the main distributor of graphic novels
in the UK. Marvel tends to be US only. Though if anyone has any
suggestions I'll look into possible UK sources.
4. Better not answer this one.

Nope, I can't name 10 Marvel characters.

Serenity will become a trilogy depending on how many people go to see
it. If it makes lots of money, that it. Go to see it, you know you want
too. (I've seen it 3 times already.)

It's a funny thing that when it's mentioned about how well a movie
does it always comes to mind to go see it at the cinema but
surprisingly that is not where the big money is these days because
the margins for cinema releases are so tight.

The big bucks come from rentals and box sets sales take in hand the
case of Hellboy it wasnt a huge success at the flicks but did
reasonably well in dvd sales which has prompted the coming together
of the sequel.

Luckily Serenity falls into a dedicated fanbase who will spend
muchos dineros on the triple collecter box set with free hair of the
wheadon himself included. And hopefully that is what will keep the
sequels coming, not that i'm interested in wheadon hair but could be
interesting for vodoo experiments!

Oh and explanation for my lack of usual guano postings is that i
have been sent out around the country and have ended up doing really
early starts and then really late finishes coupled with the
commuting lark (which i really really hate (well apart from all the
extra mula it brings via expenses) ) resulting in me being a very
knackered monkey indeed who is struggleing to type anything coherent.

ohh and in other news i have watched FF7 Advent Children and i have
only this to say, if you loved the game WATCH THIS!. This is a
direct continuation of that and is purely a big wet sloppy kiss from
Square to all its fans. Lets say i was jumping up and down like a
itchy babboon when the charachters showed up (you know who im on
about!)

If you didnt play the game or didnt like it, all you will see is a
vague slam bam action flick whis is still cool.

Dunno 1 - 3 but at no. 4, I would guess you would get Monkey Man - an
average monkey by day, in a typical British zoo where it sits eating
banana's all day watching 3 yr olds come up to the cages and shoving their
fingers through the bars despite the warnings (no wonder they get bitten),
but by night it would be Monkey Man - all banana seller's beware - in fact
everyone beware. Criminals will fear the very name of it.

Unless you'd just get an increase in potassium from eating all the banana's
and maybe grow a tail so you could point at stuff more (what other use is
there of a tail if not as it acting as a third arm?).

Anyway, for another exciting adventure of Monkey Man, tune in same time,
same place, next week....

Hi all,

Just a few reminders. The 'Discover Fantasy' chats are next week on
Monday in Darwen and Tuesday in Blackburn.

Also I remember that some of you said that the reason you didn't read
the Manga was because you'd never heard of those title. I've found a
really good website at www.justmanga.com which lists and describes most
Manga.

Here's a list of the Manga we've got so far....

50 rules for teenagers
Aria
Chobits
CLAMP school detectives
Cowboy bebop
Demon Diary
DN Angel
Fantasy Land
Forbidden Dance
Fruits Basket
GTO
Gundam Wing
Hack
Initial D
INVU
Jing, King of Bandits
Kare Kano
Kill me Kiss me
King of Hell
Love Hira
Marmalade Boy
Mars 2
Model
One
Peach Girl
Planetes
Planet Ladder
R2
Ragnorak
Rave Master
Shaolin Soccer
Shutterbox
To heart
Tokyo Babylon
World of Narue

We are getting 30 more titles, all volumes 1's this time. All books are
available to loan or reserve. And I will buy the next in the sequences
if people get into them.

There's also the manga/anime art contest for 16 -24 year olds. I've got
more prizes for it ADV films sent me 20 anime DVDs for prizes. So if you
know anyone who wants to enter its well worth it.

Bye for now.

these another game show near the market. if you go in smiths go down stairs
go towards the big ramp heading to the market, out side on your left their
is a pound shop and next to that a game show.
Don't know if their any good been in but never got any.

Next meeting is Saturday 8th October 1pm - 3pm in the Curve.

I will think about doing flyers etc in October. Tad busy at the moment
with 2 Fantasy events and an author visit. Also we are now getting all
the Sandman Graphic novels, yay. Money needed to be spent.

I think there's no danger of me going to a Dallas convention.:-) Though
next year I have a few different conventions down in my diary.

BTW just read all 3 of the Serenity comics and I have to say they are
really good and explain the gap between the series and the movie.

New, shiny, and very very blue. To papaphrase Hellboy; I love it! :D

Kudos to Paul (and whoever put it up on the boards and chose the
colour scheme, my non-existent money's on Angela) for the artistic
genius-ness, 'tis work to be proud of.

But when can we have t-shirts and PC wallpapers? :P

Wow, that was quick. I've only just changed it. Glad you like it.

By all means make your own t-shirts and wallpapers... Oh and if anyone
wants to make poster or flyers you can.

Hi all,
Well, I've had word from PR about whether I can use our nice new
logo or not. Basically if I stick a council logo on the poster I cannot
do the poster or flyer. This, however, does not stop any enterprising
member of the group making their own posters or whatever. I quote 'they
can do what they like if it is not funded by the council'.

Hope this clears things up.

Y'know, I intend to have a looksee through that there list at some
point before Saturday, but not now as the mouldy brussells sprout I
use in the place of a brain is overloaded from using Hal Jordan levels
of willpower to get my lazy backside out of bed before 10am twice in
one weekend (good thing my bed isn't wooden, or my wallpaper yellow),
and will take a day or 2 and several metric tonnes of coffee to finish
rebooting...

I'll also try and list the things I'm gonna be needing to bring
in/back on Saturday, and if there's anything anyone can remember me
promising to bring in, please say so as I'll need all the reminders I
can get - after all, it's been a month...

Pssst what list are we on about? is it the one about the penguins and
dwarves or perhaps its to do with all the things used late at
night........

you know buses, taxis, kebab shops etc

10 am bed rollouts? splutter splutter purple faced indignation
(imagine those are special emoticans that normal smileys wouldnt do
justice)
To be a fresh faced student again and the joys of the bed that came
with it. Sorry dont mind me im just cranky as i have been doing sub 6
am starts to the day for the last fortnight.

Anyway back to the point of this message i have 2 major announcments

1. Just because i like messing with peoples heads i will impart this
information on you. I know everyone is waiting with baited breath for
Serenity to be on da big screen this weekend but while youre watching
it bear in mind the main villan in this piece also plays the Drag
queen in 'Kinky Boots'.
Now i dont know about you but i reckon its a bit hard to take
seriously a fellow when you keep pictureing him in a dress and high
heels.... wait that didnt come out quite right 8}

2. I am creating a new competition, first the prize a PS2 RPG game
called Shin Megami Tensei : Lucifers Call only used for aproximately
15 hours. Yes yes i know you probably dont have a PS2 as an X-Box is
more l33t but thats the prize take it or take it!

Why you may ask am i giving this away? well the answer was this game
was given rave reviews by most so i thought i would give it a try only
to discover after playing it for a few hours i detest the whole demon
apocolyptic story plot (i think it may have something to do with
watching legend of the overfiend as a kid, i was never the same) but
anyway it is a good game and it has Dante of Devil May Cry Fame as a
useable charachter in it.

So here is the competition and its 2 questions:

1. What is the trapster (from spiderman) otherwise known as

2. What did frank Castles Uncle do for a living before he was blown up
by the saracen? (the regular series not the movie)

First person to answer correctly on this message board wins. in case
no one knows the answers whoever tells me the best joke on saturday
wins.

Thats all folks
