In schools, British English tends to predominate by default, because
that's what's in the materials teachers use, and it's also what they
tend to have learned. However, I don't think teachers generally put
much focus on pronunciation at all.
It used to be the case in some (maybe all?) universities that students
could choose to study either British or American English. Maybe
someone else knows if that's still the case?
